Hearing Aids
Approximately 48 million people throughout the country have some degree of hearing loss. Most hearing loss can’t be medically or surgically treated. But the good news is, hearing aids can be a life-changing solution. Unfortunately, of those people, only 20 percent who can benefit from the use of hearings actually wear them. Research has shown that hearing loss that goes untreated or is undertreated can cause more harm than simple misunderstanding during conversational encounters. Those who seek hearing aids can experience overall better health, better performance in the workplace, and improved emotional well-being.
Most hearing loss can’t be medically or surgically treated. But the good news is, advanced hearing aids offer a life-changing solution.

Benefits
Rediscover the Sounds You Love
Modern hearing aids offer exceptional sound quality, helping you hear conversations clearly, enjoy music fully, and appreciate the beautiful sounds of nature once again.
Improved Communication and Social Connections
Struggling to hear can lead to social isolation. Effective hearing aids can empower you to participate in conversations with confidence, leading to stronger relationships and a more fulfilling life.
Enhanced Cognitive Function
Research suggests a link between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline. Hearing aids can help stimulate your brain by providing the auditory input it needs, potentially improving memory, focus, and overall cognitive health.
Increased Safety and Well-being
Being able to hear warning signals, traffic sounds, and important announcements can keep you safe in your daily life. Hearing aids can also improve your overall sense of well-being by reducing stress and anxiety associated with hearing loss.
Hearing Aid Styles
Your hearing needs are unique, and so should your hearing aids! We offer a wide range of styles to match your preferences and lifestyle:
BTE hearing aids sit on and behind the outer ear. They are typically coupled with a custom earmold via a tube. It is a style known for its power and customizability. BTEs can be suitable for hearing loss ranging from mild to profound. They are appropriate for patients across the lifespan and are the preferred option for young pediatric patients due to their size, retention, and ease of placement into the ear. They are characterized by longer battery life and the larger design allows for more control onboard the device.
RIC hearing aids are a more sleek BTE style that sits on and behind the outer ear. The device’s receiver (speaker) sits in the ear, making the casing smaller and allowing for a more discreet design. This style of hearing aid is suitable for most patient needs and nearly all types of hearing loss from mild to severe.
ITE hearing aids are custom molded to fit comfortably within the outer bowl of your ear. They utilize the natural acoustics of the ear for sound amplification and are suitable for a range of hearing loss severities, from mild to severe. They offer:
- Natural sound quality: ITEs leverage the ear’s natural anatomy for sound amplification.
- Ease of use: Their larger size makes them easier to clean and handle.
- Directional microphone and tinnitus masking: These features can be incorporated into some ITE models.
ITC hearing aids are custom-made using an ear impression and fit snugly within the lower portion of the outer ear canal. While slightly smaller than a full-size ITE, ITC devices can still be equipped with features like:
- Volume control: Convenient for adjusting sound levels.
- Versatility: They can address various hearing loss degrees, from mild to moderate.
CIC hearing aids are custom-molded to fit entirely within your ear canal, making them a nearly invisible option. This style is best suited for those with mild to moderate hearing loss.
IIC hearing aids are the smallest custom hearing aids available. They sit deeply within the ear canal, making them virtually invisible. This style is ideal for individuals who prioritize a discreet solution for mild to moderate hearing loss.
We understand that selecting the perfect hearing aid style depends on your individual needs and preferences. During your consultation, our hearing professionals will discuss your hearing loss, lifestyle, and cosmetic considerations to help you find the ideal solution.

Manufacturers
Over-the-Counter (OTC)
Are you noticing conversations are a little quieter than before? Over-the-Counter (OTC) hearing aids might be a great option for you!
- Designed for adults with mild-to-moderate hearing loss.
- Available for purchase directly from stores or online, without a prescription.
- A budget-friendly introduction to hearing amplification technology.
- Regulated by the FDA for safety and accurate labelling.
The hearing aids available over-the-counter are not the same as personal sound amplification products (PSAPs). Although PSAPs are available without a prescription, they are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. In some circumstances (such as hearing sounds from a distance), they are intended to provide sound amplification. A PSAP cannot treat hearing loss symptoms.
We can assist you in determining if OTC hearing aids are a good fit and offer guidance on their use. We can also provide information on prescription hearing aids if needed.

Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive Listening Devices: Expanding Your Hearing Options
While hearing aids are a powerful tool for managing hearing loss, some situations may benefit from additional support. Assistive listening devices (alds) can enhance sound clarity and communication in specific environments.
We can help you explore compatible alds to meet your specific needs and listening environments.
- FM Systems: These systems transmit sound directly from a source (e.g., TV, lecturer) to a receiver worn by the listener, improving signal-to-noise ratio and reducing background noise.
- Personal Amplifiers: Portable devices that amplify sounds in your immediate environment, ideal for one-on-one conversations or watching TV at a lower volume.
- Neckloops: These loops connect to a sound source (e.g., public address system) and transmit the signal wirelessly to a telecoil (t-coil) equipped hearing aid, filtering out background noise. (Note: Not all hearing aids have a t-coil.)
- Headsets with Amplification: Amplify the sound of phone calls or multimedia devices.
- Alerting Devices: Provide visual or vibrating cues for doorbells, phone calls, or smoke alarms.
It’s important to distinguish between ALDs (standalone devices) and ALS (Assistive Listening Systems), which are venue-based systems like hearing loops.
- ALDs are portable and can be used in various settings.
- ALS (telecoil) is a feature built into some hearing aids that allows them to connect wirelessly to specific venue-based hearing loops.
We can help you explore a variety of compatible ALDs to match your specific needs and listening environments. Whether you struggle in noisy restaurants, classrooms, or large gatherings, there’s an ALD solution to enhance your hearing experience.
Contact us today to learn more about the different ALDs available and how they can improve your communication and quality of life.
